What is the apology language of your partner?
For many, just saying “sorry” when we are wrong is not enough. Sometimes your partner needs to hear more from you.
Saying “sorry” isn’t always heart felt.
Sometimes your partner needs more like “I didn’t mean to hurt you. Please forgive me.” Or “You were right.” Or
“I should not have said that to you.
You did not deserve that.”
Using these phrases means you are taking complete ownership of your words.
A genuine apology that is heart felt goes much further than just saying sorry for being caught doing the wrong thing.
Your partner will see straight through a fake apology.
An apology on its own is not enough.
Your partner will also need to see a change of behaviour to see true repentance and a guarantee what you did wrong won’t be repeated.
Don’t try to buy your partner’s forgiveness. Your partner will see through this. Your partner would rather see changed behaviour more than gifts every time you say or do the wrong thing.
