Relationships are not all about us
They’re about the person you’re with too.
Remember you’re not an island. This means you are not in the relationship alone, that there is another person to consider.
What does this look like?
It means the other person will more than likely have dreams and goals too.
They may have triggers from past traumas, they may need encouragement and validation.
They’re not going to react to things exactly as you do.
Their difference of opinion doesn’t mean they’re wrong.
They may answer your questions differently to how you would expect them to. This doesn’t mean they’re trying to evade your questions. You have no control over another person’s responses, behaviour, thoughts, words or actions.
You only have control over what you say, do and your own thoughts.
Remember, each person is allowed to have their own feelings and perceptions.
Each person also has their own love language and you need to find out what that is. Is it gifts, acts of service or love and affection and quality time?
