Intimacy in Relationships

Intimacy in Relationships

What happens when your relationship is void of intimacy and what causes a relationship to become this way?

Both people need to feel emotionally, physically, psychologically and financially safe together to want to be intimate with each other.

When there is complete trust in your partner, you allow yourself to be vulnerable in the relationship.

When trust and intimacy are missing, two people begin to pull away from each other emotionally and physically.

They stop communicating on a daily basis or they only communicate enough to get through the day.

The other side of this is when they’re apart doing their own thing during the week, they begin to make negative stories up in their head of what their partner is doing, who they’re seeing and even what is being said about the other person to other people. “I bet they’re painting me in a bad light.”

When a relationship is void of communication, each person is left to make their own assumptions about the other person.

Without intimacy, trust and communication, the result is the relationship ends up on “life support”.

Couples who share intimacy and trust are closer and have fun together when they go out. They feel safe being themselves with each other.

If your relationship has reached this point, it doesn’t have to be the end of your relationship.
