How Connected Are You As A Couple?

What breaks the connection?

It is normal for couples to have conflict.

Conflict is the evidence of needs not being met on both sides and it’s the opportunity to support the other person in what they’re needing from the relationship, however, if two people are not in tune with each other, they each put their own needs first, ignoring and even dismissing the needs of their partner, shutting them and the relationship down.

When your partner tells you,

“This hurt my feelings when you said this.”

Or

“You didn’t have to yell at me!!”

Don’t deflect and come back with

“Well, you did this to me last week!!”

This is how we emotionally wound each other and it causes each person to pull away from their partner and breaks the connection of further communication, causing resentment, criticism, unforgiveness, hatred and any emotional and physical connection is lost.

Do you really want to hurt each other?

Who wants to exist in an unhappy and loveless relationship when two people can have a great relationship just by simply considering the other person’s feelings and perspective. This takes validating each other’s feelings and then changing the way we speak to each other and treat each other.

Stop taking each other for granted and decide to be the partnership you signed up for, treating each other with respect and consideration.

For a truly great relationship, decide you are going to listen to each other and own hurtful behaviour. This will strengthen the emotional and physical relationship and the relationship is more likely to be there long term for both of you.
