Do you feel you’re in a relationship void of any emotional connection?

Do you feel you’re in a relationship void of any emotional connection?

It may have been there in the beginning but now you find yourself begging for their affection and time.

So what has changed?

In the beginning, it’s the newness, romance and natural physiological responses to a new partner.

You enjoy finding out about each other and there’s a deep connection there.

Over time, this wears off and life can get in the way. You forget what it was that attracted you to each other.

When you enter a new relationship, you don’t tell each other what you need and over the years, you both realise you’re not getting your needs met in the relationship.

Unless you both verbally make the effort to be vulnerable and tell each other what it is you are needing from the other person, you are never going to get those needs met.

You can start the conversation off with:

“In our relationship, I feel loved when…..”

“In our relationship, I feel appreciated when….”

“In our relationship, I feel close to you when….”
“In our relationship, I feel distant from you when….”

When you answer these questions together, don’t just give your answers and move on to the next question. Explain your answers and open each one up for a discussion.

It is important that each person feels heard and validated.

These are just a few examples of how to open up communication with your partner.
