Conflict and trauma
Often conflict comes from a partner’s pain from past trauma.
They self-sabotage their relationship because they don’t have the luxury to hope things will change in the relationship. In the past hope has let them down.
Recognising the pain in their partner can stop the other partner from reacting to their partner hurting them.
Instead, the partner needs to create a safe space for the traumatised partner to open up about their pain.
For this to take place the other partner has to love their partner enough to say “You’re pain is important and it matters to me.”
