Boundaries In Relationships

Boundaries In Relationships

How respectful are you of your partner’s boundaries?

Do you know what they are?

Your partner’s boundaries might be around the consumption of alcohol for you because of anger management issues, or because you need to sleep off the effects of alcohol over the weekend rather than spending time with the family.

It might be the amount of hours you play online gaming instead of spending quality time with your partner.

Maybe your partner wants you both to go to bed at the same time because your lives are so busy.

Or is it to just help with the children at dinner, bath and bedtime?

Whatever your partner’s boundaries are, do you choose to ignore them because you don’t see what you do as harming anyone?

You are harming yourself, your relationship, your partner and or your children.

When you ignore your partner’s boundaries/concerns/needs, you are sending the message they are not valuable to you.

You are essentially saying “I am more important than you or the family.”

This will create resentment, criticism, unforgiveness, division, distance, and a disconnection in your emotional and physical relationship.

All of this equates to loneliness and conflict.
